They have a limited coverage area and provide, voice, video and security services in only Michigan, Alabama, California, Florida, and Indiana.

The Good

The company provides 24/7 professional monitoring services, and latest security equipment which can be remotely accessed through any mobile device. This is particularly helpful for busy individuals who are away at work, on business trips or holidays. Users have a wide variety of wireless equipment to choose from such as motion detectors, touch screen panels, and indoor cameras.
The system is fully automated and sends alert notifications through emails and text messages. In the case of an emergency, the security system automatically signals local police authorities to take action as soon as possible.

One of the biggest advantages of Bright House Networks is their minimum contract length of only 12 months, far less than the industry average of 3-5 years. Another advantage is the fact that all system settings can be customized according to the requirements of each customer, providing tailored solutions for varying needs.
Their services are also highly reliable and well maintained since all monitoring is performed on the company’s own wireless broadband network.

The Bad

Customers face a lot of ambiguity when it comes to fees and charges. For example, the company promotes a basic security plan for residential users but does not clearly mention how this plan actually provides limited security options. For a normal-sized family home, customers would need to buy extra equipment in order to adequately protect their property which can mean up to $125 extra charges in upfront costs.

While the sound will obviously lessen the further it extends from the siren, it is still a sufficient sound that can alert you that an event has occurred.

Your Scout Alarm connects to your router using the standard ethernet cable. In addition to providing a battery backup, you also get an internet backup, which means that you never have to worry about an alert being missed by the monitoring station.

How to Set Up Scout

I could go on and on and on about how difficult it is to put your Scout system together. But that would be a lie. If you follow the tutorials on the app you can have that puppy up and running in 10-15 minutes. So if you have a short attention span…what were we talking about…oh if you lose focus easily Scout is the system you need.

You just plug the Scout hub into your router, it will connect itself to the devices that came in your package. You also get some deterrents, like yard and window signs. You should have window and door sensors, a motion detector, two key-fobs and a door panel.

You also get a RFID (radio-frequency identification) tag. You can place this on a device that you want o monitoring. Like a wine chiller, or a cabinet.

You don’t need a touchscreen or keypad to arm or disarm your system with Scout. You just need to have the key-fob with you, it works with the system to make entry and exit from your home easy.

Additional Equipment

There are some non-Scout devices that can play well with your system. For example, if you have an Amazon Echo device you can use voice commands to check on your system. You just need to ask Alexa if you left a window option. Now if only she would go and close it for you.

And what doesn’t work with Nest? Nest is the most friendly company, it is always going to like your post on Facebook and it lets you monitor the temperature in your house, Nest cam is also being incorporated into the Scout system which is some sweet news.

Security One Alarm Systems is relatively new. But that hasn’t stopped them from growing. They are now one of the largest home security providers in the US. They have location in the majority of major cities, which gives them a pretty decent footprint.

Beyond their quick expansion, they also have some creative features. The first being a Security Takeover package that adapts to your existing home security devices. Security One promises that they can provide you with a better rate than your current provider. And if they can’t they commit to upgrading your system for you.

You can find what devices they can “takeover”, they also have 24/7 monitoring, a life time warranty and a locked in rate with this package.

Reviews for Security One and their app can be hard to find. They seem to be missing the whole social media thing. While they do have an app, its limited. It doesn’t include Geofencing options, or crash and smash protection. Which are becoming more popular among their competitors.

In Conclusion

Security One has some decent features, but given the limited amount of information on their site you will have to call their sales department to know what they do.  I find the lack of their transparency disturbing. It shouldn’t take a phone call to learn basic information about the services they offer.

They also lack some of the most popular features that are common among most home security providers. Their app is basic and doesn’t give you a lot of control. I would encourage you to call Security One if you want to learn more about them, as the information on their site is sparse, or non-existent.

SafeStreets USA is one of the oldest and most well-established ADT dealers in the country. They have been operating for 25 years, selling and installing only ADT systems.

With the help of over 300 full-time trained installation consultants, the company is active in 44 States, covering 90% of the US population. In order to adequately provide services all over the country, SafeStreets USA works with two main branches, one known as the Eastern Main Office in Garner, North Carolina, and another office called the Western Main office in Kent, Washington.

Currently, SafeStreets USA does not provide services in Alaska, Hawaii, Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota.

The Good

The company is known for excellent customer service with 99% of all installation consultants reaching a new customer within 1 hour of a call. Consultants survey a property before deciding on the best options for strategic camera angles, ensuring maximum security coverage.

Once the system is set-up consultants educate and train customers on how to the use their security consoles. Their products are also known to be at the forefront of technology and their voice-activated systems, backup batteries, and six-month money back guarantee on installation are huge plus point.

The Bad

SafeStreets USA offers their first-time customers a minimum 36-month contract. If a customer is dissatisfied with the service for any reason, they will need to pay 75% of the total amount upfront as a cancellation fee, along with the return of all security equipment installed on the property.

Compared to an industry average of a 12-month contract and a 20% cancellation fee, SafeStreetsUSA is far more expensive.

There are also some ambiguities on certain service costs e.g. the company does not clearly mention what they charge on moving and re-installing their equipment to a new property. Also, SafeStreets USA is a reseller for ADT products and except for the large coverage and customer service, there is not much of a difference between the products of both companies.

The Bottom Line

SafeStreets USA is not the cheapest security service provider but its large coverage area and quick installation services have helped it grow all over the country.

Their ADT equipment is also top-of-the-line but if you are working on a tight budget, you might want to look elsewhere.  They do provide a free quote so we recommend calling them to see how much they might cost you.

Contract Details
