SafeStreets USA Review 2017

SafeStreets USA is one of the oldest and most well-established ADT dealers in the country. They have been operating for 25 years, selling and installing only ADT systems.

With the help of over 300 full-time trained installation consultants, the company is active in 44 States, covering 90% of the US population. In order to adequately provide services all over the country, SafeStreets USA works with two main branches, one known as the Eastern Main Office in Garner, North Carolina, and another office called the Western Main office in Kent, Washington.

Currently, SafeStreets USA does not provide services in Alaska, Hawaii, Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota.

The Good

The company is known for excellent customer service with 99% of all installation consultants reaching a new customer within 1 hour of a call. Consultants survey a property before deciding on the best options for strategic camera angles, ensuring maximum security coverage.

Once the system is set-up consultants educate and train customers on how to the use their security consoles. Their products are also known to be at the forefront of technology and their voice-activated systems, backup batteries, and six-month money back guarantee on installation are huge plus point.

The Bad

SafeStreets USA offers their first-time customers a minimum 36-month contract. If a customer is dissatisfied with the service for any reason, they will need to pay 75% of the total amount upfront as a cancellation fee, along with the return of all security equipment installed on the property.

Compared to an industry average of a 12-month contract and a 20% cancellation fee, SafeStreetsUSA is far more expensive.

There are also some ambiguities on certain service costs e.g. the company does not clearly mention what they charge on moving and re-installing their equipment to a new property. Also, SafeStreets USA is a reseller for ADT products and except for the large coverage and customer service, there is not much of a difference between the products of both companies.

The Bottom Line

SafeStreets USA is not the cheapest security service provider but its large coverage area and quick installation services have helped it grow all over the country.

Their ADT equipment is also top-of-the-line but if you are working on a tight budget, you might want to look elsewhere.  They do provide a free quote so we recommend calling them to see how much they might cost you.

Monitoring Plans and Pricing

The company provides a wide range of monitoring plans suited to various needs and requirements:

Medical Alert Monitoring: This is a small keypad which a user can keep close by.  In the case of a medical emergency, a user can alert a predetermined person or services to arrive.

Flood Monitoring: In the case of a flood, a sensor will detect rising water levels, automatically contacting concerned authorities to get help as soon as possible.

Temperature Monitoring: This monitor controls the thermostat and the amount of energy being consumed at a property. The controls are even voice-activated for easy use.

Burglary Monitoring: In the case of an intrusion, the advanced security system (which consists of sensors on doors, windows, and other openings) alerts the property owners and the police.

Carbon Monoxide Monitoring: Users can monitor Carbon Monoxide levels at a property and in the case of a leak or detection of high levels in the air, an alarm will go off to alert the occupants. This is especially useful in case of a fire hazard that can be extremely dangerous if immediate action is not taken.

Fire and Smoke Monitoring: In the event that a fire does light up, the smoke detector will sound the alarm and the fire department will be called in automatically.

Equipment Options

The equipment options are a landline, wireless networking and cellular.

Customer Support

SafeStreets USA provides an active customer support service through email and phone. Instead of using automated machines, they use actual customer service representatives to answer calls and reply to emails. Unfortunately, customers have complained about their helpline, with comments on how the customer support representatives are not well versed in the details of the product and can hardly provide help when needed.

Contract Details

A minimum contract length is 36-months which is exactly three years. If a customer wants to discontinue the services for any reason, they will have to pay 75 percent of the amount upfront and return all hardware equipment. Furthermore, the contract prices can also be subjected to an increment over the course of 36 months.

SafeStreets Review Summary

SafeStreets USA has received mixed reviews from various customers who have tried their services in the past. Customers complain about the fact that it is too expensive and they regularly get overbilled through miscellaneous charges every other month without prior notice. The helpline makes this worse, as it consistently fails to provide substantial information on why customers are overcharged.

On the other hand, installation consultants are said to be quite professional at their given task. They explain things with the utmost patience, walk the purchaser through the whole set up, answer questions patiently and provide any additional information that might make the transition easy for the customer.

Overall, SafeStreets USA is not for everyone. It is not the lowest priced player in the market but it does provide reliable and high-quality services and products which, for some people, justifies the premium pricing. On the other hand, people who are looking for budget or entry-level solutions might be put-off by their contract length, pricing, and weak customer support.
